Journeying on with Jazz

When we organised 'Jazz by the Beach' recently, friends from all over called up to express dismay as to what happened to the Heritage Jazz Yatra, which surprised me since that is one show we plan to take all over Goa.

Right now we are already back with a bang with the next show of the yatra slated for the December 5. Since IFFI is going to be going big guns by then, what better way to treat all our lovely Goans and our IFFI guests to the grandeur of a Goan home as well as music of the highest caliber? And what about showcasing different Goan talents to our guests?

For our last show at Betalbatim, it was a great pleasure working with Querozito and Liesel who put up a lovely, painting exhibition and with Jack Russel who had the range of jazz artifacts at the venue. And even better, the type of response they got at the show has propelled us to take this concept further and to invite our Goan craftsmen, artistes, painters et al to join forces with us to take our lovely heritage further.

On the music front, we have an array of musicians who will be playing at the show. We intend to make the show one of a kind and, one of a kind it will be. Trumpeters, saxophonists, Indian violinists, Indian percussionists, flautists, pianists, guitarists, tabla maestros, you name it. After all, there has been so much of encouragement that we have got from all over that it is now time for the concept to get into orbit. When Harikumar mesmerized the crowd with his intricate violin playing, it was also evident that top quality jazz fusion was something that excites. And that is why we have an array of world class musicians from East and West to create a fusion that goes with our Goan core.

So, get down to calling us on 9890616696 or 9822487818 and tell us how you would like to participate. Whether participating by putting up your works on display at the venue or actually bringing along a musical instrument and enthralling the discerning crowd. Let us put our hands together and showcase our talents to the world.

At the same time, we also look forward to your suggestions as to what we can do at 'The Heritage Jazz Yatra' since it is only team work and suggestions from all quarters that can help take all this forward.

And, just to create the first ripples, we'd like to hint about a truly world class trumpeter that will be in our midst. Frank Dubier, exciting trumpeter as well as saxophonist will be with us along with a dozen and more other musicians for an evening of warmth, excellence, world class music and a lot more. See you there.
