Tala Faral & GrooveSuppa --1st & 2nd Feb 2008

Tara Falal, a vibrant native of Madagascar, a US citizen and a musician of the world, mixed a groovy, funky cocktail of African, Latin, Indian and Modern Jazz, added a generous dash of charisma and hot energy, and served it through three straws (an effervescent voice, a guttural rich toned saxophone bursting out like a god enthroned and an incredibly overactive keyboard) accompanied by three equally rocket-fired Indian musicians – Dwight Pattison, bass guitar (from Calcutta), Benoy Rai, electric and acoustic guitars (from Darjeeling) and Lindsay D’Mellow, drums (from Goa).

Andy Grosskopf --18th-22th January 2008

"Andy Grosskopf, the band's mastermind is one of those musicians, who doesn't belong to the usual Leipzig Jazz circle, but is doing his own thing. His album "Type: G", released three years ago was a groove-dominated work, experimenting with atypical sounds. "File under: G" didn't lose the slightest bit of the powerful playing of "Type: G", but is more purist in the Jazz sense, there's lots of time and space for the tracks to explore moods. There's space for beautiful atmospheres and on the other hand the music creates opportunities for extensive solos, sometimes appearing a little old-fashioned because of their immense length. Grosskopf's saxophone, only seldom having the final say is always present and dominating the scene because of his sheer sound power.

He was down here in Goa at Campal and performed at East meets West-Baga , Ingos Bazar-Arpora and Ice Cube in Carazalem

Liberate your Jazz -- 19th Dec 2006

An emotive issue what with Babush Santana, a completely blind musician (drummer, violinist, trumpeter, vocalist, etc.) belting out songs much to the delight of the 400 strong crowd at the venue.Interplay, comprising Sonia Saigal, Harmeet Manseta, Karl Peters and Adrian D’Souza proved why they are the most sought after jazz band in Goa. They were simply superb, as they are always. But the pick of the night was the delectable playing by the Amit Heri Group comprising of Amit Heri himself, legendary drummer Ranjit Barot, sitarist Ravi Chary and bassist Karl Peters.

Jazz on the verandah

In December 2001, the show held on the 18 th was a spur-of-the-moment decision taken since everyone wanted to have a great start to the festive week that was just a few days away.

And what a night it was. George Fernandez, Lester Godinho, Carlos Monteiro, Mac Dourado, Benny Rosario and a host of other local stars were seen in action, and so much was the action that the 33 metre long verandah of the home was fully occupied by jazz lovers who had come from all over. Those shows were completely free of charge and each one was more like a pound party where everyone pooled in with a drink here, some snacks there and a whole lot of bonhomie.
